It's only a couple of weeks before our youth programmes recommence for the year at Strandtown and we wanted to make you aware of some adjustments we're making that we hope will be really beneficial for our young people. Read on below for more information.
Encounter will run on Friday nights, beginning on the 14th September – with a new start time of 8.15pm. Doors will open at 8.15pm with the programme beginning at 8.20pm and pick up at 10.15pm.
Year 8-10 Lifegroup
This year we've made a few changes that will allow us to try running the Year 8-10 Lifegroup once-a-month during the 10.45am service at Strandtown. We hope this will help younger teens transition from Xstream into the main service whilst not totally disconnecting them from being a part of the morning service. Some other important information to know is listed below:
- This will replace the Sunday night Lifegroup for this age group
- Young people join with the church family for the first part of the service and leave when announced
- A list of dates will be circulated prior to the programme beginning and will be posted on the church calendar, viewable via the website or Churchsuite app.
- This monthly group will occasionally be supplemented with additional social or other events outside of Sunday morning at the discretion of the leaders.
Year 11-14 Lifegroup
We are hoping to give our older teens a more 'mature' feel to their Lifegroup experience by moving to once-a-month on a midweek evening, hosted in leaders homes – with a little more opportunity for eating together as well as prayer, supporting one another and going deeper in study.
To help us pick the best day (or days) to run this group it would be a real help if you could respond via the poll link below to let us know which day(s) of the week you could make work once a month.
Depending on responses to the poll, numbers interested and available leaders/homes we may be able to create more than one group on different nights to allow as many as possible to attend
These once-a-month groups will also occasionally be supplemented with other social events or informal activities such as heading for coffee after the 6.30pm service throughout the year
A list of dates for the term will be circulated ahead of the programme commencing and will be posted on the church calendar, viewable via the church website or Churchsuite app.
If your child is planning to invite anyone along to our programmes this year please feel free to direct them to sbchurch.co.uk/registration to sign up with parental consent prior to attending.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and for encouraging your young person to come along and be a part of the youth community at Encounter. It is a privilege to get to be a part of their journey through this stage of their lives.
