Everyday Disciples

We’re joining together as a community of young people to make space and build habits into our lives that will help us to follow Jesus and to know Him in our everyday.

Try these three simple practices each day in the month ahead:

Prayer Prompts

Not sure where to start with your prayer time? Try using some of these prayers to help you begin talking with God.

Don’t feel tied to it – feel free to say it in your own words and simply be yourself with God.

  • Creator God,
you made us all in your image:
may I notice you in all that I see,
    and serve you in all that I do;
    through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    Amen.

    - CoE Daily Prayers

  • Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
    May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
    as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,
    and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

    -The Lord’s Prayer

  • Lord, help me to be aware of the people around me each day.

Give me Your eyes to see them as you do.

Help me to be salt and light in the lives of my friends and family.

Help me to be your hands and feet to serve others in a way that helps them to know and experience your love for them.

    Amen

  • Christ be with me, Christ within me,

Christ behind me, Christ before me,

Christ beside me, Christ to win me,

Christ to comfort and restore me.

Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,

Christ in hearts of all that love me,

Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

    Amen.

    - A Prayer of St Patrick

  • God, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You will strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith.

And I pray that, being rooted and established in love, I might have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge..

    -A Prayer from Ephesians 3:17-19

  • Lord,

When I’m full of fear and worry please calm my mind and turn my thoughts to remember your love for me, the confident hope I can have for eternity with You, and the identity that you have given me.

Holy Spirit please help me to trust that You are good and that I am loved.

    Amen
